Here is how we currently use DKP in the guild:

All runs that are Hellions/RuneRunners only (or with some friends) are closed bid, high bid wins.

You get 2 points for arriving on time and prepared, 3 for staying for the entire raid (four hours usually) and 1 per hour.  (that's around 9 if we just sit around for four hours).

You get 5 per boss kill, and sometimes a consolation prize if we wipe hard on a boss we're still learning.

When an item drops, bidding is opened by the Steward (Or Guild Leader).  You will need to bid at least one point on that item to win it, or the most points if there is more than one bidder.  The lootmaster at the time willdescribe in Vent or Raidchat who should be bidding on the item, and if necessary ask for inappropriate bids to be withdrawn.

It's as simple as that!  Some time in the (hopefully) near future we will be using a different bot that allows for item costs to be next highest bid+1, but essentially the system will remain the same.

Questions:

Q:

Can I bring my alt on a raid, and use my main's DKP?

A:

No.  You do not have to declare a 'main' or an 'alt'.  We aren't that hard core, and generally we hope that you bring the class you have the most fun with, and that the class is needed in the raid.  However, you cannot share DKP among toons.  It's administratively expensive, and it tends to create friction with people who's 'mains' or only toons are that class.

Q:

The Raid Leader gave us lots of extra DKP, or took away a bunch of my DKP.   Is that OK?

A:

The RL gets to do what they want.  If they are a sanctioned RL and are running DKP, they can award or demerit as they see fit.

Q:

How do I look up the DKP for my alt, since my login name is different than my toon name?

A:

The words "Your DKP" are a link to the DKP totals.  You can peruse the list and see anyone's DKP there.
